INTERFAITH sanctuary design

At Emanuel Episcopal Church, a historic cathedral in the heart of Boston, Central Reform Temple gathers for Shabbat services. This partnership is a meaningful example of the interfaith cooperation embraced by many religious communities today. Studio Gruss was commissioned to design a Torah Ark that would serve as the congregation’s focal ritual furnishing. The challenge was to create a contemporary Aron Kodesh that would harmonize with the magnificent architecture of the Gothic Revival cathedral. The Torah Ark was designed specifically for a shared sacred space, demonstrating how thoughtful interfaith design can support diverse faith communities within a single worship environment.
